Convenience, comfort and breath taking views. That is travelling by sea plane in a nutshell.
You’d be surprised how easily you can get around by sea plane in Sri Lanka. The air taxi is able to land in sea shore places such as Bentota, Trincomalee and Jaffna but also near inland cities such as Nuwara Eliya, Sigiriya and Kandy.
Can you imagine having a bird's eye view of this tropical island? Its green coastlines stand out sharply against the azure blue ocean. Tiny tuk-tuks and cyclists dot the dark red dust roads in the country side, while you see elephants roaming the wide open plains and the colourful fishing boats take to sea. From up there, even the warm and noisy cities seem tranquil and calm.
Not only is the plane ride a big adventure, it will save you huge amounts of time. The drive from Colombo to Jaffna can take up to 11 hours, while a flight out there will cost about 65 minutes of your valuable time. Another example: drive from Colombo to mountainous Nuwara Eliya will take at least six hours, while trip takes just half an hour with the small aeroplane.
Prices depend on the distance you want to travel and how far ahead you can book your journey. A water plain can also be used as a connecting flight from the international airport to your holiday destination. It is also possible to charter a private flight for a group of clients, friends or family and enjoys an intimate adventure.
